If you are using the same setup all the time, once you figure out which index files solve your setup, you can get rid of most of the others and it will speed up solving time. One tip - use short exposures for your plate solves, know your field of view, and know your image scale for your focal length and pixel size. There are a lot of parameters that need to be adjusted and figured out first. You have to figure out what settings work with your scope and camera first in your house on test files, before you go out into the dark, because it takes a lot of experimentation and nit-picking. I will warn you though, they are not just plug and play. This can be very handy if you are shooting the same object over the course of more than one night. Some can be used to solve a shot, bookmark the solve, and then come back to it days later, and If you tell the software to go to the previously solved image, it will move the scope, and keep taking plate solves until it matches the bookmark. Some can be used with camera software, like APT or BYE/N, to sync your pointing model automatically.
